Dianthus, commonly known as "pinks" or "carnations," is a popular, fragrant flowering plant that adds a burst of color to any garden with its vibrant blooms in shades of pink, red, white, and purple. Known for its delicate, fringed petals and spicy, clove-like fragrance, Dianthus is a great choice for garden beds and containers.

Dianthus typically grows to a height of 6 to 18 inches, depending on the variety, with a spread of 6 to 12 inches. It thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of sunlight daily, and prefers well-drained soil to prevent root rot.  Dianthus is relatively cold-tolerant and can withstand light frosts and even some freezing temperatures, making it a hardy choice for many gardens.
