The Persian Lime Tree (Citrus × latifolia), also known as the seedless lime or Bearss lime, is a highly popular citrus tree valued for its juicy, tart, and seedless limes. These limes are larger and less acidic than key limes, making them perfect for culinary uses, from drinks and marinades to desserts.

In southern Louisiana, the Persian Lime Tree typically grows to a height of 10 to 15 feet with a spread of about 6 to 8 feet, forming a dense, bushy shape. It thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal fruit production. While it performs well in warm conditions, the Persian lime is sensitive to cold and should be protected when temperatures drop below 32°F (0°C). In southern Louisiana's USDA zones 9-11, it can be grown as a perennial, but during cold snaps or frost, extra care, such as covering or moving potted trees indoors, is recommended.
