Spirea Reeves (Spiraea cantoniensis) is a graceful, deciduous shrub known for its cascading branches covered with clusters of small, white, double flowers that bloom in late spring. The abundant blossoms create a beautiful, fountain-like display, making it a popular choice for hedges, borders, or as a specimen plant in gardens. An interesting characteristic of the Reeves spirea is its ability to attract butterflies, adding life and movement to your landscape during its blooming season.

In southern Louisiana, Reeves spirea typically grows to a height of 5 to 6 feet with a spread of 6 to 8 feet, forming a rounded, bushy shape. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, requiring at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily for optimal flowering. This plant is fairly cold-tolerant, able to withstand temperatures down to about 0°F.
